The BlackHawk Epoch Level 3 Molded Light Bearing Duty Holster builds on the Blackhawk track record of reliable holster performance. The BlackHawk Epoch Holster for Handguns with Weapon Lights delivers three levels of weapon retention to provide you with the highest level of security. The patent-pending retention system on this Holster from the tactical experts at Blackhawk Tactical engages the pistol's ejection port when holstered and won't let go until you release it. As an added safety measure, the Pivot Guard opens by thumb activation and is designed so it won't close accidentally, locking you out of the holster. The unique design of the Blackhawk Level II Epoch Holster accommodates the most popular under-barrel lights on the market today, giving you all the versatility you've come to expect from Blackhawk Tactical. Reinforcing learned skills by focusing on proper grip is a signature of BLACKHAWK holster design. The placement of the Epoch Auto Lock release and outboard index finger indent reinforce a full master grip by allowing the shooter to draw the firearm with the index finger and thumb in proper alignment. For a great way to make sure you are working with some of the best gear the tactical industry has to offer, choose the BlackHawk Epoch Level II Tactical Holster.

I didn't know how I would like the thumb button but I got use to it very quickly. It sites just right on my duty belt and very natural to draw using the level 3 button. No one will get this out of my holster unless I give it to them. Very secure. Great quality and great service.

I recently added a TRL1-HL to my Glock. I needed a good holster, and found this. It is great quality, not expensive, and secured the weapon. Couldnt ask for better. I also have a Safariland, and I like this better.

They say it takes a 1000 draws to ingrain a new holster/draw into your brain. So far after about 150 draws I'd say that is a true statement. Back story: 28 years in law enforcement and 24 of those I've also been a firearms instructor in addition to other duties. This Epoch replaces a Serpa that limited me to the BlackHawk weapon-mounted light. That light always seemed "finicky". The Serpa holster was great. No complaints. But I wanted more light options so I pulled the trigger on the Epoch. After 150 draws I am still having some difficulty getting the G21 out of the holster without having to think about it. You must forcefully depress that thumb release and keep it forced down to unholster. If not the gun will not come out of the holster. I believe more practice will solve this and smooth things out. My real issue is with the trigger guard spacers that you must install in the holster. Clever idea but the instructions were a bit vague, at least to me. I installed the spacer and tried to use the enclosed screw to lock it in place. I could not get that screw to thread in. The screw seemed too short. After a few attempts and not wanting to strip anything I left the screw "in place". It seemed to hold, that is until I used the rig for a day and the screw fell out. It appears to me that the nut inside the trigger guard spacer must me moved to the left side for a right handed shooter. Then the thread grab and it doesn't seem to me that the thing will come loose ag... Read More...

I bought this holster to use at the range so i would not mess up my duty holster. I really like the ease of use and the draw of the weapon. I would recommend this holster to other Police or law enforcement.

The product is good but getting it was and is a nightmare. I ordered the wrong finish on the holster. After I placed the order online I realized my error. I immediately sent an email to the order department, which was closed at the time, and explained to them the problem and asked for them to contact me before they shipped the order. They did not. They said that by the time they received my email the order had already been shipped. Even though I sent out the email no more than 5 minutes after my mistake! I even printed a return label and reordered the correct holster in that five minutes. I received the wrong holster a few days after my initial order was placed. I opened the box and place the paperwork that I printed out, which said that I wanted to exchange the wrong holster for the correct one. I sealed up the box and sent it out the next morning. That was nine days ago. I haven't heard from Optics Planet about my return nor have I received the new holster that I already paid for. No emails, no phone calls, nothing. In short, the price was decent but the customer service is far from what I expect when I make a purchase.

I've been running the Blackhawk Epoch for about two years now for my Glock 17 and couldn't be happier. Best duty holster on the market in my opinion(a close second would be the Sarfariland ALS series of holsters). Great retention device which I prefer over the SLS hood style on the Safariland holsters. Very sturdy with positive retention. If you're looking for a Blackhawk holster that accepts popular wpns lights and doesn't force you to use the sub-par Blackhawk Xiphos light then this is the hostler for you. Pros: Retention device (1 button push with the thumb, avoids using your trigger finger like the Serpa series) Wpns light compatibility (first Blackhawk holster that accepts popular models like Streamlight and Surefire) Cons: A bit bulky and heavy compared to similar holsters ***DISCLAIMER if you're looking to purchase this holster for the NEW Smith and Wesson M&P 2.0, the standard 1st generation M&P model Blackhawk Epoch Holster does not fit the new M&P 2.0 (at least with the TLR-1 wpns light attached). I tried it out myself and was disappointed that it did not fit properly.

This is a solid holster. Great retention but easy to draw smoothly. I've not had a holster in the past with a thumb release, but after just a few reps, it became second nature. I would recommend this to others wholeheartedly.

If you are looking for a duty style holster with good retention this holster will fit the bill. Fit my Glock 20 with a tlr-1 hl very well. All the screws were tight and had thread locker on them. Really no complaints. Would be extremely hard for someone to get your gun out of the holster and away from you.

Great holster! Has excellent retention and lasts well. I really beat on my holsters for work and this holster holds up to it all. If you are on the fence about getting this holster because you use a tac light don't worry about it! It'll do great!

This holster is sturdy and well manufactured. The only issue I had was the clips that attach the holster to the belt loops. It take a bit of work to get them to click in place once you take them apart. Other than that, your weapon is sure not to depart from you when running or moving around during a hunt.

The holster didn't come in basket weave. The holster is bulky and it rides low. If you sit a lot it can be uncomfortable. It functions well, and with a few draws, it becomes easy and fast to draw from. I have a glock 23 and you definitely need the shims. Over all it does its job.

Bought this to holster a Glock 10mm as a backup while hunting, holster functions well. Heavy construction to protect my pistol. I get lots of positive comments from fellow hunters. Would like to have a camo design so I think I will end up painting it...

This holster is great. I bought because I wanted to get away from the serpa holster and I made the right choice. As always you have to practice your draw with a new holster but after a few draws you can get the hang of it. Great retention and versatility.

Holster is great once you get a handle on the draw. Only thing is I wish it hanged a little lower from the hip like the Blackhawk level 3 serpa holster does. Had to change my draw a little bit. But it is comfortable with the spacer attachment.

Purchased this holster to fit with the Glock 17 gen4 with a streamlight TLR-1. Fit and finish was good and securely holsters the weapon with light without any looseness or rattling. Draw and re-holstering is smooth and the holster can be adjusted for height and cant. Looks good as well!

This is by far the best holster that have ever owned. This holster is very fast and secure. I was a little worried about how it looks but after getting it and putting it on my duty belt, I think it looks amazing. I was also surprised to find out how many different lights would fit this holster.

Previously had the level 3 Blackhawk holster for my Glock. Got this one for the new S&W M&P with light. It is great! Much easier to un-holster and re-holster than any of the others that were issued to us. It looks great and basically fully encases the pistol. Top security level. Highly recommend it for LOE.

Great holster. Blackhawk did an excellent job with the fit and retention. Very easy to draw while maintaining the retention you need during less than lethal situations. I would have given it more then 4 stars if they offered it for more gun models.

I bought the holster based off the reviews of LEO's I know, and I was looking for one to allow me to train with my Glock 17 with my Streamlight TLR-2. Most of them gave the product a good review, and after receiving the product I attached it to my training belt and tried it with my firearm. The holster fits my Glock 17/w light very well. My only complaint is the holster is a bit bulky and does add a slight increase in weight (minimal) to my belt.

Almost 3 month after bought this item and no complaint so far from my client. When you touch the items you gonna feel the finish material. My reviews its about the material. I can't review the light bearing systems because I don't own guns. Only man with badge can own.

I switched from the Level 3 Serpa and I love it. All the same retention as with the Serpa but with only one action to defeat it all. Faster draw, and a better master grip from the draw. It is a little bulky, but it's not bad and I got used to it.

I bought this product for my Glock 21SF with a Streamlight TLR1-HL. It fits perfect!! Didn't have to make any adjustments. This holster is a beast!! Super quality! I would highly recommend this holster if your running a light and need it to be secure!

This is a slightly different release mechanism than their other holsters. This holster has the standard slide cover but instead of the forefinger and thumb grip release, this holster has a thumb push down, which is quite stiff. In my opinion this is a better quick release mechanism over the the two part thumb and forefinger release since you no longer have to make sure you get both releases to draw your gun which I seem to miss every so often while practicing. Can not say how well the thumb release will work in actual use since I have not had this holster long enough to get a feel for it although in theory this release mechanism seems easier to use. The holster also comes with some accessories to more securely hold your gun with whatever flashlight or laser you can mount. You will need to put these accessories in your holster before mounting it to any platforms/belt clip as the screws are faced inwards toward the platform/belt mount and would be difficult to reach otherwise.

I was very impressed with this item. It arrived very quickly. I really like the way the weapon is secured inside the holster and the way the rear site is protected. I also enjoy the ease of operation to release the weapon. I would recommend this item to other officers

Bought one for T&E at our agency. Sturdy with a nice finish. Big and bulky compared to Blawkhawk Serpa Lvl III. Gun still had some play in holster even with TLR spacer inside. Nice, but I prefer the Serpa. Hood can only be put back in place with the button depressed. Some officers found this difficult to do.

Had the Blackhawk Serpa holster for a couple years. Changed holders for the light. The xiphos just isn't that bright. Overall great holster just wish the thumb push down was a little higher. The holster is just a little more bulkier than the serpa

I've had this holster for about two weeks now. So far I'm very happy with the purchase. The draw mechanics are different from my Blackhawk Serpa holster, but being able to use the x300 ultra light by far out weighs the change in draw. I would recommend this holster to anyone.
